Inspired by Chinese sky lanterns and named with a West of Ireland influence, the porcelain 'Boxeen' tea light holder is carefully crafted.
Each piece is made by hand, left to dry, then polished, bisque fired, glazed, fired again to a high temperature, and finished with a 24-karat gold lustre edge before being fired in the kiln for a third time.
In Japanese ceramics, the practice of Kintsugi repairs broken pottery with gold, embracing flaws and imperfections as part of an object’s history. Rather than disguising a crack or flaw, it is enhanced with gold, and this philosophy has influenced the design and making of Boxeen.
Each one is unique, with its own folds, creases, and character, and is polished to a high-end finish. The Boxeen gives a lovely translucent glow when lit with a tea light.
Each piece is approx. 80 mm tall and 55 mm wide.
Every Little Boxeen tea light holder comes presented in its own individual lidded gift box tied with a ribbon.
Useful tips and care instructions:
Only remove the used tea light when the wax has congealed to prevent any spillage inside. The glazed surface inside is easy to wipe clean with a soft damp cloth should the tea light become a little smoky. The surface warms up while a tea light is lit inside, so keep away from little hands.
