This handcrafted piece, titled Ardú, is inspired by the landscape of The Burren on the west coast of Ireland. Ardú is the Irish word for rise, and the piece reflects the idea of rising above challenges and moving forward with strength.
The work draws on the textures and colours found in this landscape, where beauty and resilience sit side by side. A golden tipped fence or obstacle becomes a symbol of something that can be overcome, while the 24 karat gold full moon speaks to the passage of time and the light that carries us through it.
The royal blue sky represents the night sky, adding a sense of depth and stillness to the piece. The overall palette echoes the colours that surround us every day in the west of Ireland. Each element is carefully hand built and finished by hand, giving the piece its own character and depth.
Framed in a 26 cm x 26 cm wooden box frame behind glass, this handcrafted piece brings together texture, light, and meaning in a simple and thoughtful way. As with all handcrafted work, no two pieces are ever exactly the same, giving each one its own character.
