Inspired by Chinese sky lanterns, named with a West of Ireland influence.

The porcelain 'Boxeen' tealight holder is hand-built. Each piece of porcelain is individually rolled, cut and joined, left to dry, then polished, bisque fired, glazed, fired again to a high temperature and then a 22-karat gold lustre edge is applied, before it is fired in the kiln for a third time.

In Japanese ceramics there’s a process called Kintsugi, where gold is applied to repair cracks in pottery, embracing the flawed and imperfect and treat it as being a part of the history of an object. Instead of a flaw being disguised, it is enhanced with gold. This philosophy has influenced the design and creation of the Boxeen.

Each one is one of a kind with it’s own folds, creases and character and polished to a high end finish.

The 'Boxeen' gives a lovely translucent glow when lit with a tealight.

Dimensions:

Each piece is approx. 95 mm tall and 65 mm wide.

Every 'Little Boxeen' tea light holder comes presented in their own individual lidded gift box tied with a ribbon.

Useful tips and care instructions:

Only remove the used tea light when the wax has congealed to prevent any spillage inside. The glazed surface inside is easy to wipe clean with a soft damp cloth should your tea light be a little smokey.

The surface warms up while a tea light is lit inside, so keep away from little hands.
